As we wind down the 2020 waterfowl season we had a good hunt on Saturday.

Not good as far as shooting but still – we had fun.

It’s fun just to get out. To see the song birds doing their thing, to hear the sounds of nature, to spend time together. That’s a good hunt.

It’s also fun to take a “newbie”.  A friend of mine has never been and we invited him along.

His first time goose hunting, and being in a layout blind.

“I’ve never been to comfortable in a hunting situation before” he said.

Last weekend at the spot we went to, we saw several hundred geese flying around and had several groups give us a good look with our spread of decoys and calling. Saturday we only saw 3 geese – fast flyers with no interest in what we had to offer.

BUT – my buddy and I had great conversation and while we were in our layout blinds, he was busy ordering a duck call and a goose call online on his phone.

I think that’s a good sign that he had fun anyway.

So, it’s not always about the geese cooperating and coming in to our decoy spread and getting to shoot.

A great day is anytime spend with friends and family in the great outdoors.

Thanks for reading. Please comment and come back soon.

I will try to get more posts on a consistent basis.
