Oh the woes of being a duck hunter. It’s hard to be on the X when you just aren’t seeing any birds…
I’ve been out about 10 times since the Missouri duck season started. We’ve had some fun but we’ve hardly been successful.
Is it the weather?
Has the migration changed?
Are the ducks already gone?
How has Covid 19 effected the migration? Is that possible?
Will there ever be a big push on ducks that we can get some “new birds” that will work and come into the decoy spread?
Inquiring minds want to know.
We went out this weekend and there seems to be plenty of geese flying and a lot of geese on the lakes and fields here in the Kansas City suburbs.
We saw a few ducks and managed to shoot one Ring Neck and one red head hen and one goose. That was between 4 of us hunting.
There is a conspiracy theory that since American hunters weren’t able to go to Canada this year to hunt waterfowl that the ducks weren’t pushed down. Seems somewhat logical based on not seeing birds…
I have talked to a lot of guys and seen a lot of posts on social media – hunters are just not seeing the birds.
That’s hunting…it’s still fun but it’s a lot MORE fun when you can at a least fire your shotgun at a few ducks.
thanks for reading. please feel free to comment and give me your analysis. I would love to hear any ideas and your success or days like I’ve been having.
